July 7-8, 2007, LHM-Cameroon was invited to travel to Nkoteng to accompany a Group of Lutheran Youth from the Yaounde's Congregation of Djoungolo I
The Lutheran Youth Group was on an evangelistical tour and played the role of a Choir by organizing a mini concert on July 7, from 7-10:30 PM. Meantime, Lutheran Hour Ministries' programs were presented to the more than 200 people who turned out that night to listen to the Choir. As we suspected well before getting to Nkoteng, many people thought Lutheran Hour Ministries-Cameroon was a financially rich institution sponsored by the Americans. Others took it for a church. We then had the opportunity to explain our programs to the audience and got them interested in our various activities, such as BCC, Evangelism Campaigns, and Counseling Sessions.
The most important thing we come to understand after our presentation of LHM programs was the positive response of the audience when we told them that once you have become a Christian, it is impossible to keep quiet or silent in front of so many people suffering without Christ, the Lord and Saviour of the world.
After listening to the many testimonies of the members of the Youth Group who completed our BCC, the audience were so happy and joined us rejoicing and dancing as the Choir continued to perform, singing in the local language of the Gbaya people.
Sunday, July 8, almost 150 people attended the service at the local congregation. We spoke to them about LHM's programs, about Christ we come to witness and them, about how to follow Christ. Again a lot of dancing followed our message as the Youth Choir praised the Lord through songs. Many of the audience did not depart from us till we left by 5:00 PM. They asked us to come again.
At the end of our trip and before our departure from Nkoteng, many asked for the BCC. Some who started with BCC sometime ago and dropped, promised to start over.
One military man was so excited that he asked for any brochure or Bible to read because he wanted to start a new life with Christ.
It was an exciting time being with the people of Nkoteng, and we pray and trust that the Lord will let their faith grow and become stronger, so that they may be His witnesses in this little industrial city of Nkoteng.
Please, pray for them.
