Addiction no match for God’s love
Release No: 06-100
By Gerald Sonnenberg

Nov. 7— CAIRO, Egypt: The Holy Spirit is the source of inspiration to those who are lost. The Lutheran Hour Ministries (LHM) staff in Cairo recently came upon two young men who were struggling in their lives but saw hope in Jesus Christ.

“Grisham” and “Ramsey” come from a Christian background in this almost entirely Muslim country. They had not attended church over the last 10 years, so their knowledge of Jesus and the Bible was limited. They only thought of Christ as a prophet. One of LHM-Egypt’s area volunteers met Grisham and discovered the young man’s life addiction to drugs. The volunteer spoke with Grisham about Jesus for two months and encouraged him to contact the LHM-Egypt office in Cairo.

Grisham eventually began calling the ministry, and ultimately met with LHM-Egypt director, Mumtaz Nathan. “He said that no one cared about him. His family did not know Jesus Christ, and everyone (had) gone astray,” explained Mumtaz.

The audience relations manager at the ministry center arranged to meet Grisham during a monthly referral visit, during the visit Grisham introduced him to Ramsey.

After approximately two months of counseling, prayer, and letting the Holy Spirit work within themselves, they put their trust in Jesus Christ as their Savior, and enrolled in the Bible Correspondence Course. They were introduced to a local church, and now attend regularly.

To all of those who send their prayers and gifts of support to LHM-Egypt and other LHM ministry centers, a sincere thank you from all of the staff and volunteers. They pray for continued support.
