Evangelism >ministry stories
EMPOWERED BY MEDIA ACTIVITIES IN THE LINE OF DUTY.
The impact of Music, Drama and other souvenirs of the Ministry so far has been quite encouraging and heart-warming thus spurring staff and volunteers on to do more. The enthusiasm becomes even much greater when results are quickly derived from an activity of the Ministry which affects a life.
Benjamin Osei is a Taxi driver who was patronized one time by the Director of the Ministry to the office. Whiles waiting in the reception to be paid for his service, the Audience Relations Manager engaged him in a conversation talking about a wide range of issues including his perception about life and Christianity.
Activities of the Media were also highlighted with an open invitation thrown to him anytime he felt like coming around.
Barely two weeks after this interaction, Ben came on his own to the office purposely to access help by way of counseling.
Apparently, Ben, according to him, has been having a difficult time trying to cope with life here in Accra. “I have worked as a driver here in Accra for a long time but cannot even boast of any money in my account. Strangely I can’t save”, he said. Apart from that, he seemed to be going through some difficulty which he feels has a spiritual connotation thus his interest in our counseling service. Indeed Ben was counseled to consciously and earnestly try to save and pay his tithe regularly. He was directed by the ARM to show him what he had been able to do with his bank account regularly and report to him when he has his tithe ready to be paid. The ARM then gave him a Bible and then referred him to the Pastoral Advisor who would continue with him.
It can joyfully be said that Ben has now started paying his tithe. He has opened an account for saving. He is also a prospect for connection to the St. Peters Lutheran Church in Madina.
TO GOD BE THE GOLRY
“OH WHAT A JOY IN THE HOUSE OF GOD”!!!
“I was glad when they said unto me let us go into the House of God” is a favourite of many a Christian but to live it is another experience altogether.
Anyone who has ever lived this Psalm would definitely understand the kind of joy these exuberant youth of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ghana expressed as the Crusaders and Harps thel groups of the Ministry ministered songs of adoration to the Most High God at the Biennial Convention of the National Youth Organization of the Church.
Indeed, from arrival to departure, there was joy all over. On arrival on the eve of 12th August, the Crusaders wasted no time, neither did they complain of tiredness, rather they quickly set up all equipment and went into ministration.
At the launch of the program, 250 people were around to witness and having heard of what Project Joel is all about by watching a documentary on it, there was a thunderous applause to welcome it into the region. This was confirmed through some interviews conducted to find out the prospect of the Project in the Region.
It is also very gratifying to know that there is a strong support for you as you do God’s work. This was realized from the various warm greetings and speeches listened to including the pledged support of the Youth of the Church and that of the Regional Minister. Soon after the launch the Harps thrilled all gathered with series of inspirational songs as Brochures and T shirts were distributed to some members of the press and other dignitaries.
As part of Ministry activities, there was also a visit to the Regional Hospital in collaboration with the organizers of the convention. A total of 200 people went on the visit. This was meant to tidy up the environs of the Hospital and to pray for those on admission. The Harps again were there to provide inspiration through song ministration. Some visitors around could not just help but to join in the singing and clean up.
The climax of the expression of praise to God through Music came when a Gospel Rock show was organized on the eve of the Thanksgiving service on Sunday. The performance was so marvelous that some expressed their interest in joining either the Harps or the Crusaders. About 190 people were present to glorify God including Michael Kuertey, who had just recovered after going on admission at the Hospital. He was so much enthused that he sung and danced to say thank you to God. The Ministry wishes him well and pray that whatever he lost during the time of sickness God will replenish him abundantly.
The Ministry also pray that the exuberance expressed at the National Youth Convention which touched many lives will be sustained so that many other areas would benefit from it as we keep on sharing in the Joy that can be found in the House of God for there is really JOY in Christ.
THANKS BE TO THE MOST HIGH GOD
