Historical Background of Ghana
Ghana, the closest landmark to the center of the world,
is located on the West Coast of Africa. It was formerly
called the Gold Coast. Ghana has a total land area of
92,100 sq. miles.
The population of Ghana comprises Christians,
traditional religions and Muslims. While Christianity
is the dominant religion, Islam and Traditional religions
are also very well represented. There is complete
freedom of religion in Ghana
Cocoa is Ghana's most important commercial
crop, accounting for 30 percent of its total export
earnings. Coconuts, palm oil, bananas, timber, processed
wood products, gold, diamonds, manganese, and bauxite
are also exported.
