Media day of prayer and the launch of harps cd

The Lutheran Media Ministry in collaboration with Ghana Boardcasting Cooperation-Religious department held the Media Day of Prayer & the Launching of the Harps CD Album "Priase Him" on the Republic Day of Ghana. This event came off on the 1st of July 2010 at the Trinity Theological Seminary-United Chapel.

The event was to pray for all Media practitioners in the country so their activities impact positively on mother Ghana. The event was the second to be jointly organized by both organizations. This year’s event was also used to launch a music album by the Harps – a volunteer choral music group of the Ministry.

The 200 hundred people who attended the program were jointly engaged in two major prayers for the Media and the Religious front; these prayers were led by Mrs. Gifty Affenyi-Dadzie and Rev. Dr. Charles Owiredu respectively. To crown the event the Harps CD Album “Praise Him” was launched by Rev. Mrs. Marilyn Opoku-Acheampong.

Among the dignitaries present was Hon. E.T. Mensah(Minister of Employment and Social Welfare), Nana Essilfie Conduah(Dean of Journalism Studies, Africa University College of Communication) and Rev. Dr. Brandford Yeboah (Senior Lecturer, Dept of Religion; University of Ghana)

Not forgetting the choirs who came to support the Harps CD Launch; St Patrick Church Choir, The Resurrection Choir and the Crusader the Band for Lutheran Media Ministry who performed amazingly. The Ministry’s children’s department also gave a brilliant performance during the program to the admiration of everyone present.

“I BELIEVE GOD WILL MAKE A WAY” – David Numatsi

What started as working duty for David Numasti a 36 year old bus driver at the “Shiashie Station” has turned out to be a very beneficial experience. During one of the Ministry’s Rural Outreach, we hired Mr. Numatsi to drive us to Sota for the outreach.  He interacted so well with everybody throughout the Journey and became a friend to everybody who made that trip. When we returned from the trip, David who was inspired by the activity of the Ministry and volunteers expressed his interest in becoming a member of the rural outreach. His interest was especially in the area of playing percussion, but admitted that he does not attend church. It was explained to him that it was not a problem and that he would be allowed to join irrespective of he not attending church.
David after the program became a friend of the Ministry and his car was used anytime the Ministry needed transportation services. He sometimes would reduce the cost of his transportation services. Periodically David will call on Ministry staff for bible discussions and counseling.
He had constant correspondence with staff of the Ministry until about four months ago when there was a break in correspondence. All efforts to reach him both at his permanent bus terminal did not yield any results. We however always remembered him in our prayers.
It was during the month of June that he visited the office of the Ministry to find out how staff were faring. Upon enquiry David explained that he had to rush to his village in the Volta Region to perform the funeral for his departed father. He went on to say that he got ill after the funeral and had to stay for sometime to be cured before returning to Accra.
Upon his return, David was met with the bad news that his car was taken from him and meant he had lost job as a result of his long stay in the village. Although it was sad information, it was very perplexing to hear David say that “I believe God will make a way for me”. He was quick to recollect one of the bible discussions he had about Joseph in the bible who later became a leader in Egypt after going through very trying times. He then informed staff of the Ministry to continue to remember him in prayers.
He was quick to express His joy for coming in contact with the Ministry and in His own words he said “I know I have true friends in you”. David is married with two children staying at Agyiringano.

CONGREGATIONS STIRRED BY VISIT

“Our hearts have been gladdened this day. After over six years without seeing any representative of the church from Accra, little did we think there was going to be such a visit again? Words cannot express how grateful and inspired we are by your visit. We are indeed grateful to the Lutheran Media Ministry for remembering us in your programs. We wish you travelling mercies back to Accra and please do accept this gift as a sign of our appreciation”.

cThese were part of the goodbye message of Evangelist Francis Nawal to staff of the Ministry at the end of a four-day working visit to the area. He spoke on behalf of churches in the Zamarama area of Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo Region.

When staff of the Ministry (Director and Audience Relations Manager) left Accra on a visit to churches in the Kintampo area the objectives included strengthening ministry relations with congregations in the area. The visit was to afford us the opportunity of first hand information to inform decisions about Ministry activities in the area.

On arrival in each of the areas, we were moved to encourage our brothers and sisters never to relent in their service to the Lord despite the very uncomfortable situations they find themselves.  Visit to all the areas presented staff with a new opportunity to share the gospel. Most of the members reportedly have left theas church because they felt they had been abandoned and there was no need to be part of the Lutheran family. The few members were contemplating about the future of the church.

It was a comforting scene as church leaders in all places visited could not hide their joy about the visit of the Ministry and the presentation of clothing and books. After informing them of our mission, the leaders pledged their support to help reach out and bring more people into the church. Daniel Chumba, headmaster of a local junior secondary school volunteered to be a BCC facilitator in the area.
